His name is Key Kobayashi aka. KOBAMETAL. He once saw Suzuka Nakamoto (the lead singer of id="hidden5" class="buttons"> BABYMETAL) performing for ASH (Actors School of Hiroshima), I believe. He, immediately, recognized her talent and very powerful singing style and thought, her talent would be wasted with mere pop-music. Sometime later it happened that he worked as a producer with the idol-project (Sakura Gakuin = Cherry Blossom Academy), whereof Suzuka was one of the founding members. And he had an idea. The rest is history!
Here we are. Ten years and three studio albums later. And would you believe if I tell you, they are one of the best live acts out there? Sadly, this clip (like some others) had the live footage overlayed with the studio recording. If you are willing to continue your journey, I would have some recommendations for the start:

@tiaopiak4 years ago Babymetal is credited for creating the kawaii metal (cute metal in English) genre, which combines elements from J-pop and heavy metal. This genre has id="hidden13" class="buttons"> introduced metal to new audiences, and many new kawaii metal bands such as Doll$Boxx and Deadlift Lolita have formed since Babymetals debut. While most kawaii metal bands are based in Japan, the genre has begun to spread outside the country to places like South Korea, where kawaii metal bands like Pritz have formed.
This from Legend 1997 concert dated December 21, 2013. The people with the bone suits on are mime band called BabyBones (retired fully by 2014 and replaced with a full time live band called KamiBand gradually from 2012)
BabyMetal consisted of three ladies, lead singer Nakamoto Suzuka (aka Su Metal) aged 16 here plus the two others are Kikuchi Moa (aka Moa Metal) and Mizuno Yui (aka Yui Metal, left 2018 due to undisclosed health reasons) both aged 14 here.
BabyMetal started out 2010 as a sub unit of an idol group Sakura Gakuin (Cherry Blossom Academy) also formed at the same year, become independent by 2013.

Gimme Chocolate went viral around Feb and Mar 2014, with support of BabyMetal fans the Sonisphere organiser booked them for a smaller stage. Then online flame war ensued arguing if they are worthy to be there. The flame war grew so intense plus their sold out for The Forum, London concert tickets (7 July 2014), that the organiser bump BabyMetal to main stage by May. This is a stage where people throw bottle of piss towards bands they don't like. So when BabyMetal went on stage, they are definitely worried. After this performance, UK became their biggest market in Europe. This is their last song of that performance.

Concerning j-metal or j-rock i can highly recommend my first by the way, j-pop is much more than bubble gum pop lol, it' s very diverse with tons of subgenres. Most of the awesome stuff is underrated though, because of the national marketing of the japanese music industry. lovebites; start with shadowmaker

My personal favorite from babymetal. fyi: they were huge a few years back and sold out the tokyo dome ( meaning about 50k people) i think two nights in a row. Now one member left the group.

This was studio audio, and back then they weren't even playing with a real live band (the skeleton guys you are seeing in the background are fake). Once you see the real band, hear the crowd participation and feel the energy, you'll start to get the whole picture. Please do yourself a favour and check out more! "Gimme Chocolate" is one of the groups more poppy songs, and not necessarily the one I would recommend to new listeners. It's the first one I saw of the band and I dismissed them as a gimmick until I rediscovered them about a year later. It's the song that went viral for them as people were sharing it to shock their friends.
BABYMETAL are best experienced live and I can confirm that seeing them live is one of the best experiences ever! They consider themselves more performing artists than recording artists so I would always recommend checking out their live stuff. Please let me recommend some more songs for you:
"Ijime, Dame, Zettai" - Live Sonisphere UK 2014 - - Title translates to "Bullying, No good, Absolutely" This was their first big show in the west. They originally booked a small side stage however the organizers bumped them up to the main stage due to the buzz they were generating. The girls were scared that the UK metal heads would throw bottles at them.
"Rondo of Nightmare" with Mischiefs of the Metal Gods Intro live Budokan Black Night - - This is a Su-Metal (lead singer) solo, but it really shows off the absolute metal masters of the Kami Band.
"Road of Resistance" - Live Saitama Super Arena 2015 - - This is how BABYMETAL ends an arena show. If you watch only one of these, this is the one to watch. .. ...Expand 6

A little more background; babymetal has won over 35 international awards, has been on the covers of industry magazines (revolver, metal their band, the kami band, are some of the best musicians in japan, amp; often dress in traditional japanese burial robes & makeup.
does means cute; however, babymetal uses no suggestive or sexual imagery, lyrics, or choreography in their music or performances. This is intentional. On the other hand, su-metal has beenon stage - but then how else would you be transformed from a j-pop idol to the queen of metal? Rhetorical.
babymetal lyrics can be poppy, silly, amp; fun; however, most are positive, inspirational, amp; uplifting, amp; inspire tens of thousands of young fans. Also, their work ethic is beyond reproach. And no one can control a crowd like these young ladies. Check out videos from tokyo dome in 2016, where they sold out back-to-back dates with 55, 0 fans in attendance each night!

The man behind this idea was Kei Kobayashi aka "Kobametal", a former metal fan and producer in Amuse in the idol program "Sakura Gakuin" An idol j-pop program who mimics an all girls school. He thinks that Suzukas voice can fit in metal and. well, 10 years after Babymetal are still on stages rocking hard and with the applause of a lot of big metal names. Can be strange, bizarre, nuts. but it works.
Maybe you want to check one of the "Sakura Gakuin" themes (J-Pop) from the time those girls were still in this group. Babymetal was a sub-unit of Sakura Gakuin but the style is of course very different.

I see you already have a lot of good info and good suggestions for more songs. However, it seems you like to try the dance moves but nobody has recommended 'Catch Me If You Can' This is from the same show as Gimme Chocolate, but this is really live and the Kami Band are on stage for this one as well.
The first minute or two is just the girls hyping up the crowd, but then they get into the song and I'd really like to see you try to do the "running away from an Oni" dance while calling out "Maada da yo" (an Oni is a sort of Japanese ogre and they are playing hide & seek or tag with it, the Oni is asking 'are you ready yet?
